Hello Heather,

I hope you don't have an ulcer. I have heard that aspartame stuff isn't very good and could be linked to cancer, so I also try to avoid it as much as possible.

That is funny that you too had good results on an Atkins diet. I know someone online that was able to eliminate his hives after going on an Atkins and gluten free diet.

I hope your thyroid stays stable and your stomach feels better. Thanks for the great comments!

Hello Ruthie,

Thanks for your great comment. I was on a gluten and milk free diet, and I suspect it could have been the soy that caused my stomach upset, but I don't know for sure.

But I do mostly avoid soy as well, and luckily it isn't in most foods I am eating right now. Hopefully one day I will figure what exactly causes the hives, because they aren't any fun at all.

Thanks again for your great comments, and have a great day!

Is this the first time you have tried going on a diet with that much soy? When I was trying to stay away from gluten and I brought soy into my diet, I tried a soy based pasta and I got the same reaction that you did. Horrid stomach cramps, gas and the yuckies. However I am super sensitive to many things, including salt and sugar. I get hives and even asthma to things like soy sauce. However, maybe it is the soy that you are allergic to? Or maybe its a combination of soy and salt? I don't know, but those same symptoms I have had.

Ugh that sucks. I have had hives since May 5th (08). I had them for three months from Nov 04 to Feb 05. I thought they might be from my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. My TSH goes up & down but it's been OK the last month or so, yet the hives remain. They've calmed down a lot the last two or so months but flare up once in a while. The first time I had them I had been drinking tons of raspberry herbal iced tea and also had stomach pains. This time I had been drinking TONS of pop (esp fountain Diet Coke which I love) and had extremely painful acid reflux (I believe). I also get a raw burning throat and I have a lot of sinus trouble. So, looking back on the start of these two episodes I believe it's possible my hives are kicked off my gastric upset. I don't really think I have an ulcer but haven't wanted to pay for a GI. I've been planning to give up aspartame (which is in Diet Coke & many other pops) but I've been doing poorly. I want to go back on Atkins (it worked great in Feb 08) and clean my system out again, staying away from preservatives, etc.
GL on your testing!

I know what that's like... finally sweating is major relief. I've been fine most of the summer, as I too am in Atlanta going to Georgia Tech-- walking to class and then back to the dorms helps "breakthrough the pricks".

I've been in an air conditioned environment for the past two days (due to the holiday) and I can already feel the pricks coming back... I will be going back to the dorms tonight--moving stuff around again-- and I hope I get hot enough to break a sweat then.

I've always given myself this 3-day rule: Go three days without sweating and I am guaranteed to have intense pains and pricks the next time I get hot. So with that lingering over my head I try to sweat often.

I want to try the no-milk diet that you tried, to see if it helps. Because along with the air-conditioned environment, I've had several cereal bowls with milk, and a frosty... so I think I will try to cut milk out too.

Hmm..I don't know, I most definitely would not do it though.

That 'overstimulate' sounds extremely scary as well. Haha, I get the basic idea of it, but it seems like it would seriously be torture, especially if adjustment doesn't happen, or it takes a really long time. ;p

I think it is kinda of weird to say that it seems like we're kind of on the same 'cycle' right now.

I wonder if it's the weather, or just purely coincidence. You're in the Carolina's right? Well, I'm in lower-north Georgia. So, hmm.

I can't seem I've been completely prick-free, but I've just not been very reactive at all, thank goodness. Since I've moved into my dorm at Georgia State, which is literally in the middle of Atlanta, it's a literal 15 minute walk back to campus. This week, it has majorly been pretty hot, so walking back home, avoiding getting hit by cars with a bunch of people around, with tons of heat...would normally set me off greatly, but it hasn't.

Foods to Mostly Avoid on an Anti Candida Diet:

    * Excessive Carbohydrates (white rice, pasta, white potatoes, etc.)
    * Excessive sugar (honey, processed sugar, snack foods, etc.)
    * Alcohol and vinegar
    * Foods containing yeast or fungi (breads/pizza, and mushrooms contain yeast & fungi)
    * Too much fruit

...I...I can't do it. Especially the fruit. Haha. :(

Hmm. Sounds interesting.

Looking forward to the more detailed post about the diet, as I'm a little too preoccupied to search for them myself within the next few days.

Very true to it could be different causes from person to person, but, I've never been much of a pill popped my entire life. I have to be seriously sick to take some medicine, and I'm not really sure I've taken antibodies.

Otherwise though, I'm not sure if I consume many Candida-filled foods. I probably do, I see you've mentioned "sugar". ;p

This is my last day in California, then I'm back to the miserably hot, muggy Georgia summer weather. Not looking forward to it, especially since college is back in session and I'm going to have to walk to my classes for the most part, of course. Being lost, nervous, hot, and anxious is quite a lethal combination.

But eh, things could be worse. ;p
